Function of IASE
IASE instituons will perform the following functions:
- Conduct programmes in IASE Jabalpur teacher education so as to 'prepare elementary teacher educators.
- Conduct M.Ed., M. Phil. and Ph. D. programme in education so as to perpare elementary and secondary teacher educators and research workers in education. Some of the IASEs may also start 4 year integrated course for secondary school teachers.
- Conduct in service courses for (i) elementary and secondary teacher educators, (ii) Principals of secondary schools (iii) Persons involved with supervision of secondary schools, etc
- Organise pilot programmes in teacher' education
- Conduct advanced level fundamental, applied and experimental research in education, especially of inter discipliruuy nature, e.g., sociology of education and economic evelopment, educational psychology etc.
- Conduct training programmes for preparation of software and use of educational technology.
- After the system of organising in service programmes gets stabilised and depending upon the capacity of an the capacity of an IASE and the demand, such an lnstution may also organise some longer duration and specialised courses in appropriate areas.
- Provide academic guidance to DiETs and resource to CTE, and
- Also undertake development instrucational material such as:
- Unit plans content cum methodology Instruction packages.
- Question banks
- Teachers’ hand books studies work books etc.
- Source book and resource materials
- Innovative programs/practices and experimental projects.
- Selef learning instructions packages.
- Teaching aids and kits.
Acdemic Responsibilities Of CTES
- Foundation of Education
- This area will be concerned with instructional work in communication with foundation disciplines of education relevant to professional cource of teacher perpration
- Pedegorgy and methodology
- This area will be connected with thw development teaching methodology for various school subject and cunsaltancy developing models of integration content and Pedegorgy sufficient amount for practice teaching will be organized for the trainees and method laboratories will be developed and maintained.
- Educational techonology and media resources
- Audio visual support needed in the art of pedagogy and methodology will be Developed. It will also be concerned with development of low cost teaching aids and other audio visual materials.
- In service Education and Extension programmers
- This will be one of the main areas of responsibility of these institutions. On the basis of felt needs, and in consultation with educational administration, areas of in service teacher educationwill be identified and the programmers will be conducted accordingly.
- Special Programmes
- These will include Science Education, vocational Education, Environmental education, Work Experience, Population education, Language Teaching, etc, The institution could play the following important roles in the context of the new programmers immolated as part of implementation of NPE.
- Special training of teachers and technicians
- Development of materials and methods
- Provision of general resource support
- Formative evaluation
- Improvement of supervisions
- Evaluation skills among heads of institutions and teachers
- The overall staff and physical resources acte will be suitably harnessed to enable the institution to play its role in such of the above kind of programmers as may be under implementation in the districts it is expected fever. For example, the programme of improvement in science education will be implemented through the Science faculty of institution assisted by that of Foundations, IT, computers and In-service programme. Many of the CTEs may also serve as District source Centers under the programme for improvement of science teaching.
- Computer Education and Service
- Each CTE will ha1,e a computer centre for the district in which the CTE is located, which may also scrve as Resource Centre under CLASS unless a resource is already functioning in another institution in the district, or a better uquipped computer unit is available. Elsewhere in the district for being developed as resource centre under CLASS for that district. This unit will to begin with, provide necessary training and resource support to CLASS, but over a period of time, Would develop capability to provide support in planning and management of computer aided learning, and interact with other teaching leaning process in the CTE.
Academic Responsiblities of IASE
lASEs will broadly have the same areas of responsibility as those indicated for the CTEs above, with the possible addition of some more specific areas like
- Elementary Education,
- Adult Education and Non formal Education
- Special Education, and
- Planning and Management they will have a pronounced research orientation and may concentrate on certain areas to develop special expertise in them. In the area of in service programmers, these institutions will pay special attention to the training of the +2 stage.
The areas for IASEs and CTEs mentioned above are purely suggestive. The identification of specific areas for academic responsibility for a particular IASE/CTE will ultimately depend upon the specific needs and requirements of the geographical area it would serve, the competence of the IASE/ CTE concerned and the consensus among the faculty.
